Thanks to a new kind of christian and southerly buster who have both seen fit to add signposts to their blogrolls. Much appreciated.

According to this article, nature religions including paganism and wicca are amongst the fastest growing religions in this country and found that:

The modern Australian pagan is a female Melburnian under the age of 35 who was born in Australia, has a university degree and lives in a de facto relationship.

tasting the rain

Sunday, June 29th, 2003

This weekend we had a couple of days of rest without computers and phones and those other intrusive modern devices.
I have been re-reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury - we are discussing it for our book group at our congregation Haven on Thursday. I have always loved this book, but I was particularly struck […]

Feeling inspired!

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

I have been feeling down recently. It has been hard work over the last three years bringing four churches into one, gathering a new purpose and sense of mission. It has left me (and many of the other key leaders, I sense) feeling a little flat. It is like we are taking a breath - […]

Lovely work with the flowers

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

I really like this:

I have watched with interest what has been described as a “flame war” going on god blogs around the traps. Bene Diction has a good summary of the various relevant posts.
I am not going to comment on that particular discussion. The aspect of the discussion which interests me is a side issue. […]

Tell us something we don’t know

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

Australian’s foreign minister spokesperson states the obvious:
the Australian Government’s conviction that there were weapons of mass destruction was “not solely based on intelligence”.
Seriously, this has to be the most honest comment to come out of the man of steel’s government for a long time.

conservative GG

Tuesday, June 24th, 2003

Well the lefties of Australia will be outraged to hear about a few matters which apparently slipped through the gaps in the man of steel’s extensive vetting of the new governor general (let’s just call him “Junior Queen”).
In addition to his much publicised and since retracted statements about the “assimilation” of aboriginals (the text of […]

sex and the lordship of jesus christ

Tuesday, June 24th, 2003

Five anglican bishops in sydney have called on the anglican bishops of the world to oppose homosexual marriages, saying that those in favour of same sex unions “…have abandoned the teaching of Scripture in … a flagrant manner”. They went on to say:

The moment for silence is past. There are many ways in which […]
