most popular kid in school
A quick heads up to Apropos of Nothing which has added signposts to its blogroll. Thanks a bunch, much appreciated. A selection:
Kicking Bush out of office in 2004 will only begin to undo the damage to our economy, our sense of community as a nation, our trust in government, and our international reputation. Cancer on the Presidency? How about when the cancer itself is sitting in the Oval Office or strutting around in a borrowed flight suit as a photo-op for the benefit of his 2004 re-election campaign?

Dan, I’m trying to figure out why you’ve selected this particular quote for your blog. And why you’ve followed it by instructions to put comments on the originating blog (implying that, while you’re willing to host the quote, you’re not willing to host the reaction).
Care to enlighten us?

Sure. The simple answer is that I was looking to quote an excerpt which was actual commentary from the blogger - a lot of the posts on the blog were mainly quotes from other sources.
I don’t think I misrepresented the content of the blog, it seems to be a fair indication of the type of commentary on that blog, so therefore useful for the purposes of determining whether it was something that one of my readers would want to check out.
As for hosting the discussion, I unabashedly chose an excerpt that might prompt people to respond so that they would pop over to this person’s site and check it out. I notice that the blog has only been going since May, so I figured that s/he would appreciate some new people checking out the site and leaving comments.

Actually, it’s ’she’. And thanks for the referral.
Also, while a lot of my most recent posts are political and chock-full of quotes, (prompted mainly by current events and the ‘real live people’ conversations I’ve had in the past two weeks) I do post on other stuff besides current events. Check out my posts of 6/28 and 7/16 for examples.
When online I sometimes will read the news and newsblogs and then react to what I read, rather than just sitting down and writing, and that sometimes sets the tone and subject matter for my thoughts that day. But I hope that this infant blog will contain both kinds of content–including (as an active member of a metropolitan Lutheran church) the kind that signposts has.
Again, thanks for the referral.
