The cause

There is a story about Mahatma Gandhi when he was studying in London. He was a young man and became excited about Christianity, especially after reading the Sermon on the Mount. At that point he decided that Christianity must be the most complete religion in the world. But later, when he “lived with a Christian family in East India, he changed his mind. In that household he discovered that the word rarely became flesh - that the teaching of Jesus rarely became the reality of Jesus.”.

I wonder how Ghandi would feel if he lived in my home, with Dan, Romy and Sasha? How would he feel about Christianity if he lived in any of our households?

As the gospel of John says “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (1:14). Jesus is not just an idea. And our faith can not just be an idea. We have to do it. It is not enough to think about peace and wish for it. We have to work for it, and live it. Being a Christian is not just a question of having the right ideas and thoughts. We have to experience it and do it.

God forgive us for when we turn people away huh…imagine the influence Ghandhi would have had for God that family had not been a “stumbling block”.

i sometimes cringe at the memories of those people i may have turned away…and then pray desperately that i havent caused their hearts to sear to the gospel, and that the Holy Spirit be given another chance to bring them to salvation…
