Rewarding people

This is a time of the year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus over many celebrations with family and friends. But, something else happens at this time of the year. It is also a time of the year when we thank those who have worked so hard throught the year. There is something natural about wrapping the year up before Christmas and not in the week of new years day. So, how do we do this?

When I was working in secular employment in the computer industry as a manager it was easy. We thanked and rewarded people for their hard work through Christmas bonuses, all expenses paid Christmas parties, and gifts of wine and other things.

But how do we do it in the Church? We have many hard working people who need to be thanked and need to be recognised for all that they give and do. However, without the bigger budgets of secular employment we have to be more creative.

So, I would like to know how you thank, honor and recognise those in your communities that are doing so much. Or perhaps you have some wacky original idea that you would like to share before you try it. Let’s see what we can come up with!
