Only six percent of Australians believe that the new year will be more peaceful than 2003:
Just under half of the Australians surveyed (45 per cent) said next year would be a more troubled one than this year, with much international discord, while a slightly larger group (49 per cent) expected next year to be as bad as this year.
Given the events of 2003, this shows an ominous pessimism about the state of the world.

Of course they could be entirely wrong.
Just because everyone believes something doesn’t make it true. Let’s just hope that this is one of those cases.
