Wink on what the gospel is

The gospel is not a message of personal salvation from the world, but a message of a world transfigured, right down to its basic structures

The more the gospel is seen as something just for our private souls, the safer Christianity is. It reminds me of Jesus words: “if you try and save your life, you will lose it” or something like that. I am sure someone can dig up the reference.

Do we attempt to protect Christianity so much that we have lost it? We hold on so tight to the Bible that we have have lost it?
