failed

Definition of failure - preach a sermon on how giving is a spiritual issue and some one remarks that they don’t want sermons on money, they want sermons on spiritual issues.

Ah you need a sense of humour :)

A sermon is not selected on what the Audience ‘wants’ but what god tells us in the bible.
There are many times when these two objectives are in conflict

    God speaks in the book

amazing, how a congregation or rather ‘the masses’ are totally clueless about the realities of living out God’s word!

A church that a family member once attended had a “miracle sunday’ where, after a month or so of preaching about giving, the congragation was encourage to give 90% of their income and live off the 10%. This is no lie.

The next paragraph reemphasised how everyone os part of the family of the church…the next paragraph spoke of their outstanding debts.

Now, I have no problem with God stretching us, I sometimes have a hard time accepting it from someone else, but surely, if it was God, why was it necessary to include the fact that they had financial liabilities? In my mind, they just lost their appeal. It is no longer about blessing God or living by faith out of obedience.

I guess we all celebrate our relationship with God through giving in different ways. Its a shame that those few who abuse the system (tele-evangelists etc) make it difficult for people to hear the truth in the Word.
