online church
I am not sure what to think about this online church.
I did like this idea -
With this, you can just log out if you feel uncomfortable, and you know no-one is going to pounce on you to run a Sunday school group
Simon Jenkins, co-creator
It kinda represents Church consumerism gone a bit mad I think.

Sounds like this site - http://www.plug-pray.org/ENG/Home.html
Which a few people I know didn’t find very funny but I certainly had a good laugh.

I like it.
Interesting so many of the visitors are male.
It isn’t trying to replace real live community, but I think it introduces people to an environment they may never had set foot in.
And maybe someday, they’ll set foot in an actual one.
The money has been donated, so I’m not sure the observation of consumerism holds completely true.
For those who are unable to attend a church because of disability, this is an option that again, may help them reach out.
And trust the UK to come up with something so refreshingly welcoming. Would a US model seek to meet what needs it could?

Bene, I mentioned consumerism not because of money but because of the low expectations/demands on involvement indicated in the quote. I often think the Church attempts to make it so attractive by lowering the expectations of commitment etc, where as the vitality of Jesus, the early church all had very high expectations.
I would also disagree that the US wouldnt attempt to meet needs - I think the US models such as Willow Creek and Saddle Back are very much leading the world in attempting to be welcoming, attractive and low commitment. But, I think this and them miss the point.
But I do agree if some are connected when they wouldn’t be otherwise then that is a good thing - so, point taken there.
