Theology in a retirement village

I preached for the first time at our newest congregation at nccc. This congregation has been started by Bob and Barb, who are members of nccc and have moved into a brand new retirement village. Out of a desire to connect with their village neighbours - we have started together a congregation on a monthly basis. We hope this will move to more frequently soon.

The congregation meets in their new community centre. Can I say that designers of future churches should check this style out. With a whole collection of smaller and flexible spaces that include dining areas, pool tables, library, TV area, and many little spaces geared at encouraging chatting over a cuppa, it is set up a treat. The whole building is designed to encourage people to gather.

After the service we sat around tables and chatted about life. I was quiet taken by the serious theological talking about the tsunami has caused. People are thinking, and searching for meaning in this tragedy. What was refreshing was seeig how these guys seem to know intuitively that it is the process of thinking it through that is important and not the cute formulic answers that some come up with.
