the missional leadership shifts
Alan Roxburgh, ( in his consultation to churches of christ in victoria) illustrates with this table the shifts required from pastoral leadership to a missional leadership footing. Recently at nccc I have been regularly meeting with three retired ministers who are members at nccc. In order to open discussion around how my role is different to the way they operated in their ministries we used this helpful table.
The table is a good one. Yet, on its own it doesn’t tell the story of pain that can happen for both the ministry team people and Church people who are used to the characteristics of pastoral ministry.

Great chart, it explains a lot when things are put so clearly. So many of our problems can stem from certain understandings and expectations we all have of “how to do ministry”. It’s important for all people to look at how other people experience church and God and deal with each other as grace-ful people.
