Michael Moynagh in his new book: emergingchurch.intro addresses such questions as:

What is the emerging church? Why is it so important? What Christian Values underpin it? Why does it make strategic sense? How can you get started?

His book is essentially a review of many of the new expressions of Church that are emerging around the western world.

Northern Community Church of Christ is mentioned when he writes:

Northern Community Church in Melbourne, Australia has mushroomed into several café congregations. One was primarily discussion based.

The members and leaders discerned the need for reflective and contemplative spirituality, but attempts to incorporate this into congregational worship met with mixed results. The congregation brainstormed about practices that were essential for individual spiritual development. It then vowed to regularly revist these spiritual disciplines and hold each other accountable to engage regualarly in them. The programme had a great impact on the congregation as a whole and its individual members. A year later the spiritual disciplines were adopted by the church across all of its congregations.

An emerging congregation invogorated the others, not least the original parent.

We perhaps would not have described the spiritual disciplines in exactly the same way but it is nice to be mentioned in the book. Thanks Michael.
