Geoff Bullock rewrite index
Over the past month or so we have been posting up rewrites of some of Geoff Bullocks well known worship songs. Geoff has kindly allowed us to discuss them and has contributed to the discussion. We have now posted up all the rewrites. I am sure you join us in thanking Geoff for his willingness to engage with us. Thanks Geoff!
You can view them all here
Alternatively, here is a index of all the song rewrites.
Until we see the cross
Have faith in God
You rescued me
The power of your love
The heavens shall declare
Just let me say
This Kingdom/His Kingdom
The power and the glory
The great south-land
The stone’s been rolled away
I will never be
Mercy/Glory
Refresh my heart

It’s been great to read the re-writes, as well as the reasons for the changes. Geoff, thanks so much for being so open. This has been great.

I too want to thank Geoff for these. It has been good to see the sometimes subtle and sometimes not so subtle changes.

Thank you Geoff, it’s been such a blessing to see your heart in all this, you’ve been transparent and honest. Thank you mate, God bless. Can’t wait to use some of these rewrites!

Hello everyone. Could we pause from our opinions to offer a prayer for the family of Nguyen Tuong Van.

Good Point Geoff. This is indeed a travesty.

It makes me feel sick.
And believe me, heroin use is not something that I have not been touched by - I can’t believe that people think killing someone has any kind of connection with a junkie’s desire for a hit…

today
today i saw my reflection
and i recoiled in shame
i saw my soul in singapore
as humanity chose to blame
i saw my face in the anger
of those who turned to hate
those whose hearts had turned to stone
adding scorn to the debate
i saw my soul hanging dead
cold, lifeless and alone,
a mother’s tears, her tragic sons
a cricket match back home.
i read the charge upon my life
as i hated the ungrace
and realised that i’d joined the mob
with an executioner’s face.
i see my heart as blackened coal
i see a dirty muddied soul
i’ve lost my hope of being whole
have mercy Lord on me.

Geoff thank you…I am so often guilty of momentary judgments against others, hopefully I listen & hear the whisper of grace.. but the “ruts” my judgments create in my “mind babble” is a constant battle to defend.I see glimpses of your world as I feel these words. As a parent of young adults ..I am no more ashamed of the decisions about this life and his death as I am about my daily judgements on my children and myself..the Grace is so unexpected against “that filth” so GOD that I rarely afford it to myself..you know in 2006 I am quietly determined to apply it to the scars and feel the softening..then I may be able to forgive myself? I hope you find this also in 2006….

So sad, in that to many of the masses today, the song writers are the theologians.

Are there theologians in the AOG?

Hi Phil, the link to the songs doesn’t appear to work. I am needing to do a bit of cutting and pasting for a blog that I have. Also, please feel free to post the mp3 I sent you of “Until we see the cross” Only 6 months too late!

Ah ok. We changed themes a while back on the blog and I havent updated the links. Will do so soon.
Thanks for the mp3 - I will post that as well.
We used it at our good friday service at Northern - very powerful!

[…] Geoff Bullock pointed out that the master link page we have of the rewrites that Geoff had done for many of his well known songs was not working. This was due to an update of the theme we did. Our apologies - it is now working and can be seen here - I will also put a link to it in the sidebar for easy access. […]
