A New Zealander, in his early twenties Michael Duncan was converted out of the drug & eastern mystic cultures. Since then he has served in numerous & varied ministry roles. In 1985 he & his wife, Ruby, with their two children relocated to the Philippines & moved into the heart of a third world squatter community. For 9 years they lived among the poor working toward holistic transformational development including relief work, community development, social justice, evangelism & church planting. In 1994 they returned to NZ & continued to be involved in urban mission both in Australia & NZ. Mick has also served as Senior Pastor of churches in both of those countries. Since 1976 he has been invited to speak in many countries of the world. Michael has written four books, ‘Move Out’, ‘A Journey in Development’, ‘Costly Mission’ (voted one of the ten outstanding Mission books in 1996), & ‘Who Stands Fast’ released this year. Michael holds qualifications in theology & sociology, & has studied Ethics & Development at Oxford University. Currently Michael is a ‘Portfolio Worker’ on contract with a number of organizations assisting in their strategic direction, leadership & communication. He is also a visiting lecturer at a number of colleges in NZ, Australia & abroad. (www.michaelduncan.org)
