a mission shaped congregation

Yesterday we had our November all-church celebration. This is one of the two times per year that all of our congregations and missional teams share a lunch together and celebrate what is happening in our Church. It was a great day – one of the most thrilling moments for me is always when I meet people that are involved in Northern but I don’t know them.

We also announced an incredibly exciting new venture.

Tim and Jay Jeffries will be joining us and planting a new mission shaped congregation. Tim who is currently the missions pastor at St Hillary’s Anglican Church in Kew will join our ministry team in Feb 2006. Jay who is currently a intern at St Hillary’s will join our kaleo intern program at Northern next year. Jay and Tim are married.

Both of them are gathering a team of people to plant a new congregation in Preston that will be shaped around a new community gardern that we hope we can get going next year. It will be an exciting way to connect with the community and provide ‘green space’ in an area that up to recently has been primarily industrial and is now moving to high density residential.

Both Tim and Jay are becoming very good friends of Dan and I and I can’t begin to describe the excitement I have in having these two very talented people joining our team.

If you are living in Melbourne and you feel called to live missionally in the northern suburbs and connecting with people around a community garden drop me an email at phil@nccc.org.au
