    Guys,

Neil is a friend of mine from way back, he is the man I most respect in terms of practical how to missional church. He isn’t some flash in the pan sexy new thing kinda guy, he is the real deal. I would recomend coming out to this event as highly as I can.

What format would the Wednesday event “Postcard from the Edge” be in? Would atheists feel comfortable at this event?

    dan Says:

Kieren, the postcards is normally a fairly informal occasion in a room at a cafe. The speaker does a bit of a spiel and then takes questions. The speaker would assume that most of the people there are christian. We will post up the advertising material for the postcards night as soon as it is available.

So heckling from the back would be out of the question?

As long as you don’t heckle about gender-specific language, I’m sure it will be ok. :)

    Kieren,

The night would not be designed for you, it will not be seeker sensitive. Neil will be talking to people that want to learn more about discipleship, evangelism and church planting. You would be warmly welcomed, but I think any effort to steer the converstion away from these intended goals will be resisted.

There will be other night in the future that would welcome more input, and even debate.

So, it would be nice to meet you if you are still up for it. If not maybe we can have a coffee sometime.

[…] The world is changing at an incredible rate. The challenge of effective mission in our time demands new thinking about leadership. History shows that people can be great ministers, but poor leaders. We must develop leaders with authentic vision, innovation and creativity. Not very often do we have the opportunity to interact with and be taught from one of the most innovative and respected leaders and church planters in the world.  Neil Cole has seen around 600 churches started in the last 6 years through his organic leadership network. This  ”Greenhouse” of pioneering leaders has influenced thousands of church leaders across the world.   The Forge Mission Training Network in Victoria is excited to have this unique opportunity to host an incredibly inspiring and practical “HOW to” three-day conference for leaders and pastors who want to network, interact and learn from some of the most innovative practitioners in Australia.   (More info and a brochure have been posted by Phil over at Signposts.) Neil Colewill work through his organic leadership principles to give you valuable tools for pioneering new ministries, missions, congregations and churches.   Being at the Factory in Mitcham, Victoria (the conferences Venue)  will  demonstrate for you the story of one of Melbourne’s most conservative Baptist churches’ transition into a mission shaped church. One  that has seen them sell their building and renovate a factory into a community centre for the neighbourhood, and give them inroads into the community with incredible effectiveness.  The Factory - a community facility provided by MITCHAM BAPTIST CHURCH. Come to the Factory and be inspired, energized, tooled up and equipped for ministry in Australia and beyond.   […]
