I loved that ad! I’m a new member of thew broadband club before which I could never watch things like that (or read Signpost threads with >500 posts).

Fair enough that networks disallow it if their policy doesn’t allow religious advertising (two of the four networks). But the others who rejected it on grounds of controversy… I just thought it was funny, although I’m not a member of any the minorities who got ejected.

For those who didn’t see it, these four people get ejected:

A mum and her crying baby
A man with his arm around another man, both ejected (really, I’ve done that before at church and never been told off)
A man with a walking frame
A man by himself (brown skinned, I couldn’t tell what ethnicity)
and lots of random people.

Aside from the “controversial” points, it’s an important point that the way churches work can make things hard for elderly/disabled people and parents of little kids. And if a denomination pledges to include them, then that’s a good thing.

But I still think Christian TV advertising is weird.

America’s “god” is the one who uses violence and takes advantage of the poor. They are the ones who send armies in order to keep countries divided.

If you take a good look at the Statue of Liberty one thing you will see is that the statue appears “blind”. Yes Corporate America will decieve you, rob you blind and keep you ignorant! There is no real democracy there - only the illusion of it!

So, really it is no surprise that the advert has been rejected. There was also a really good TV show called “Book of Daniel”, which has also been banned. It touched on God and some very interesting topics such as homosexuality, the hardships pastors face and many other issues.

Unbelievable CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox have all banned the advert. What the hell??? Doesn’t America pride itself on being the ‘land of the free’?

A church that welcomes gay people is too controvesial to be shown on television?!!!

I think it’s actually the United Church of Christ, not the United Church of Canada, although the ad would match the latter group as well.
