Oh yeah , no message bibles or blackbrys or , uh oh…rules..oh yeh, it’s not a democracy. Bugger it, all these problems aaaaarrggggghhhh !

Re: 4446
Neil, I REALLY hope the Enough Rope moderator does remove that lady’s comment, or at least does something to counter it. As far as I’m concerned, it was libellous.
Geoff, when I read it, I was hurt for you. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like for you and your family to keep having this rubbish put out there. In this case, I think it was particularly bad because it was so public.
Seriously, it’s like a 12 year “game” of Chinese whispers.
Love, Deb

Hang in there mate. Those of us who were there at the time know the truth - you are not alone.
Agree with your comments Deb.

From what I understand the rumour mill is starting to go into hyper drive re: Tanya.
It stinks Geoff, it really does.
August 3rd, 2007 at 6:39 pm
thanks guys…. I have been so open with the truth.. it is so easy to access, all you have to do is Google me and the article from Reality mag by Diana Benge is there for all to see. There even is a link to the article from my web site. It is twelve years ago… I have even tried ringing every Everson in the Sydney phone book over the last 30 minutes!!! I feel gutted again. f..k

I just received a stunning msg froma hillsong. It opened with a nice insult and goes on in wonderful, model hillsong rhetoric. I’ll post it soon if I can.

This is it in it’s entirety:
this is because you’re shallow. 1 tim 3:16. christian life doesnt exclude rebukes/corrections. discipling is tough, but it is needed to pass the storm.
watch what you say. it’s one thing to slander your friend and then to slander a church or pastor.
you may not believe God.. or you might.. i dont know.. but know there is one.. no matter how sincerely you believe one way or the other.. the truth doesnt change. so with that examine the Bible. did not David kill the servant who killed Saul. even though saul was after david’s own life. Only God deals with the anointed. did not God instantly take the lives of the men who slandered moses?
with a problem.. u bring it up to the pastor and elders as it is written in the Bible. even though the church might be corrupt. if u got a problem.. leave and find a different church. but do this without ur mouth running. who are you to take down a mega church like Hillsong? ur single voice can’t be heard over the millions around the world that love hillsong.. let alone the congregation. led God deal with them if there is a problem.
time will prove a righteous man. i dont understand how u used gortner to back up ur point in Common Objection #5. did he not end up ruining his life at the end? find a real case where someone has lived a false life but ended up righteous.
btw.
unicef also has people carrying around orange boxes for change. u dont see people complaining.

Chin up Geoff. I don’t know what else to say.
August 3rd, 2007 at 7:23 pm
Geoff, that really is terrible. We’ve never met, but I know enough about you from reading your posts to know that you’re a guy that the young ones like myself can really look up to. Let them have their wrong opinions… the fact is that you are still making a huge impact on people’s walks with God.
August 3rd, 2007 at 7:25 pm
And Emblazoned… damn man. Most of these things people are writing on your page are making me really angry… but I guess the right response would be to feel sorry for these people and pray for them.
August 3rd, 2007 at 7:44 pm
Embalzoned -
These comments just demonstrate that Hillsong is a cult or a fringe Church at the very least.
It’s funny, I never thought that I would be the sort of person that would be sucked into a cult…but I was. Let’s feel sorry for these people. I remember how hard it was when Lance was ‘demonstrating’ against Riverview - it did not compute! … I thought the Church was great - and then as I looked deeper my worldview literally was turned upside down.
You also have crossed over … its hard mate for these guys too see clearly - and it takes time.
keep your chin up.
August 3rd, 2007 at 7:46 pm
Yeah Geoff I got nothing. I feel for you mate and I want to help set the record straight. You’ve got a lot of love and support out here mate
August 3rd, 2007 at 8:01 pm
Geoff, you’re right. Anyone who took the time to do a Google search would not only find that article, which is very open and honest, but also your website and blog–which shows your heart.
I’ll be quite honest and say that you have blessed me through the things you’ve shared on your blog this week–more than you could possibly realize. Every piece you’ve posted has been a word in season for me. Anyone who read any of those little posts on your website (let alone listened to your music or read your books), would know that the rumours don’t match the man.
Unfortunately, people see and believe what they want to see and believe, even when the truth is handed to them on a plate.
Anyway, I’m praying for you–actually, have been on and off all this week, for some reason–and really praying that some form of retraction can be made about that comment. It astounds me how willing people are to repeat unsubstantiated gossip as truth.
And Emblazoned, even though I’ve only “known” you for a week, and only through the things you’ve posted, I can say quite honestly that you are definitely NOT shallow. If you were shallow, you wouldn’t have cared less whether you were allowed to see the financial records or not. You have integrity, and your heart is to try and rescue others. The thing is that sometimes we just have to be available to help people when the penny starts to drop.
Love, Deb

Geoff I am so sorry if I have caused you pain and hurt.
That was never my intention.
Honestly, I never expected anyone to make any comment on the enough rope web site. Why would anyone make a comment.
Geoff, I thought that you would make a wonderful guest for Denton. You have affected millions of people’s lives all over the world with your music. You have struggled under incredible circumstances at Hills. You have been on a journey through bi-polar.
Geoff, you have inspired me in every area of your life!
Having worked in the TV industry, I knew that if Denton wanted to interview you, a researcher would approach you. It wasn’t as if i was setting you up on a blind date. You would have the final say on being “used”.
I am so sorry because my innocent guest suggestion has led to some imbicile ragging you out again and perpetuating the same old BS.
Geoff, I am so sorry.

This is still one of my favourite quotes from a happy hillsonger message sent to my myspace site:
I just want to say how dare you come into my place of worship in this case myspace and try to fill my mind with your garbage… myspace is private and i dont need your propaganda thoughts on a church that has transformed so many lives.
go and tell somebody who cares and thats not such a devoted christian..
Myspace as a place of worship…I wonder if that’s accepted in the next census?
