I coouldn’t do it.
I’m glead you have the guts.
are you dutch too? glead is the celtic version of glad, I’m really into ‘keyboardish’. The keyboard has every language ever known to man in it and sometimes I think they try to break out, of course we think it’s just just a typo, but oh no, well so what, It’s australian wine ok!!!and yes, the sun has actually come out in the uk and I thought I’d fire up the old barby… is it just me or do those hs comments on embrazened’s site seem to be getting really violent. I didn’t think hsers were nasty people whio needed to defend themselves in such a hirsute manner. btw you don’t get flies hanging around the barby in uk, excellent!..now i’m off to fill my mind with some garbage.

A review of “People in Glass Houses” in the Sydney Morning Herald:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/book-reviews/people-in-glass-houses/2007/08/03/1185648121318.html
Short quote:
“Hillsong did itself no favours by refusing to co-operate with Levin on the book. But I got no sense that Levin is motivated by malice. She acknowledges some of the kind and talented individuals at Hillsong, including her own parents, and admits to some nostalgic feelings for the place. Nor is she out to discredit religion generally. She laments her own slow loss of faith and admires genuine faith in others.”
August 4th, 2007 at 9:57 am
You forgot this part…
And Levin is not an impartial observer. She blames Pentecostalism for traumatising her as a teenager and leaving her “clueless” going out into the world. Her views are coloured accordingly and she bases her case on anecdote rather than detailed research.

There’s no greater or profound research than that of our heart. That is where the truth lies.
– peace
August 4th, 2007 at 11:24 am
SBTL where did you make this up from. Complete fallacy. My heart is like just about like everyone else’s full of lies, deceit, sin and truth cannot be found there - think again.
August 4th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Welcome to Signposts, SBTL… it’s a VERY honest place, but tact is not its strong point.
The mind is just as fallen as the heart, Veritas… and both are being sanctified for those who own Jesus as Lord.
Of course… “detailed research” is one tool to counter our natural fallen tendencies, but it’s not impeccable… the best trained scientist is not immune from bias.
I would probably translate SBTL’s idea in terms of the validity of a person’s experience and the validity of the stories of others she recounts… it’s a different but perfectly valid way to describe a phenomenon from “detailed research”.
Besides… based on feeback to date, a detailed poll of Hillsongers would find that Hillsong is “awesome” and anyone who thinks differently has personal issues.

Veritas, if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, God will give you a new heart and a new spirit.
August 4th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
FL - my heart is still corrupt. My mind is still corrupt. My body is still corrupt. My spirit is still corrupt. My strength is still corrupt. Truth can not be found in my heart or my mind or my spirit. No level of delving or researching into my heart or my mind or my spirit will find the truth. Think again people.
August 4th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
So was that a lie or the truth you were telling in that last post, Veritas. It would be hard to tell according to your description of yourself.
And what, then, has Christ done for you at the cross if He has left you in such a desperate unchanged state from the former man, assuming you’re telling the truth?
August 4th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
God:
(Jeremiah 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Silenced by the Lambs:
There’s no greater or profound research than that of our heart. That is where the truth lies. peace.
damn hippies.

Hebrews 10:22-23
…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
1 John 3:18-21
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.

I am looking forward to reading Tanya’s book…. but I have to say, after watching the enough rope excerpts, I hope she is more factual in the book than on Denton. Compassion is not run by Hillsong. They support it but it is not and has not ever been run by HS. Get your facts right Tanya before speaking publicly. You just looked stupid when you said that.
August 4th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
Lance, there are a number of us that would love to see you on the 12th if you could make it, - Newport Arms offers limited accomodation as seen here
http://www.newportarms.com.au/hotels-accom.html
You could do worse than give yourself a holiday in the Pittwater Shire, it is one of the nicest spots in Sydney & Avalon & Palm Beaches are world famous & considered “the summer playground of the rich & famous”.
As the site says:
“Newport is located in Sydney and is surrounded by the Pittwater local area which is blessed with a wide range of natural and man made features providing an abundance of things to see and do. Take advantage of your waterfront location by enjoying a sailing afternoon on Pittwater, take a scenic walk along the many coastline tracks, learn to surf at the local surf schools, visit the set of ‘Home and Away’ at Palm Beach, dine at the many restaurants and cafes along the Northern Beaches of Sydney or simply sit by the water and relax with a book”
August 4th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
Actually, I’m a big fan of Denton and a regular watcher…. his body language and facial expressions were very much like “what tha??” You shot yourself in the foot Tanya.
August 4th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Oh & ummm…..it’s less than fifteen minutes from CCC, Emanresu & myself might take you there that night for fun if you come.
Heck, we could all go.
Nothing like a good old hand-raiser ;o)
August 4th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
Fifteen minutes drive that is.
August 5th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
The Newport Arms get together is on the 12th!!!!?????? Oh, that’s why you weren’t there… !!
August 5th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
I have to say with great regret that I won’t be able to attend the get-together on the 12th - I realised afterwards that I already had commitments that weekend that had been organised for quite some time beforehand. Despite that, I hope you all have a great time together and I really hope to get to meet you all in the not too distant future.
August 5th, 2007 at 8:15 pm
Hi I rarely post these days - can’t seem to face sitting at the computer after a day at work doing just that! but would love to join you guys next week at Newport! Hope to see you then, cheers Lori
August 5th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Geoff! Oh no…
Yes it was the 12th! & you went all that way!
We hope that hasn’t put you off coming next sunday. We’d very much love to see you.
August 5th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
David, sorry we’ll miss you - thanks for letting us know. There may be events in the future so other opportunities could appear..
August 5th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
We’ll look forward to meeting you, Lori! See you at 1pm on the 12th!
August 5th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Thanks Reve! See you then!
August 5th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
Now, seems like we have about 7 people so far, say 10 if a few ppl bring partners or friends - more people will probably respond during the week, in the meantime, i need to know if people would like us to book a long table in the restaurant
http://www.theterraceonpittwater.com.au/a-la-carte-menu/index.html
or if that’s looking a bit on the pricey side people might be happy just ordering from the Bistro / Grill in the Beer Garden & grabbing a spot wherever we can
http://www.newportarms.com.au/garden-bistro-menu.html
Can i get everybody’s say on this when convenient?
August 5th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Even though I’m a newbie, I’d have loved to be with you. But I’m just not going to be in Sydney for the next two weeks.
Have a great time everyone!!!
Love, Deb
August 5th, 2007 at 10:53 pm
After looking at the info I am feeling quite peeved I do not live in Sydney…..what a beautiful spot for the inaugural signposters ftf. Have a wonderful 12th of August. I have previously asked for someone to have a nice glass of white for me, now I must ask….. could someone also order a decent plate of seafood to go with it?
August 6th, 2007 at 8:52 am
Sorry Daisy, I’m planning on a spicy pizza and beer.
August 6th, 2007 at 9:03 am

Hi All,
I’ve been away for a while. The Signposts group certainly changes rapidly ,with a lot of new people since Tanya was on Denton!
Anyway, I am not sure which post this belongs in but I will do it here.
I was doing the Google thing w.r.t CCC management etc when I found the following site
http://www.mtaustralia.com/download.html
I then found this file which describes
A NFP Growth Plan prepared by Management Training Australia (pdf) at
http://www.mtaustralia.com/upcomingseminars/Christian%20City%20Church%20Whitehorsereport.pdf
It was very interesting reading and even more so especially when I discovered that the author (i.e. the one and only presenter at the
http://www.mtaustralia.com)
is actually a full time pastor at the very same CCC
I do find this somewhat worrying when the biography states about the author that ‘He runs this company as well as still being a “hands on” manager in a large not for profit organisation’
This was all on a downloadable wevb site and so this is all above board! But if you were from church circles then this would not be quite so apparent.
Maybe it is just me but I do find this disturbing in the sensee that it always appears to be about the “business” and making it bigger and more profitable.
Your thoughts and discussions would be of interest.
Cheers,
DB
