    Thanks Daisy

I hope that remains a continuing feature but more often than not I stick my foot in the warm sticky steaming stuff and cart it round under foot.

In Valley Girl speak (which I’m not)…..eeewwwwh!

The other explanation is that I’m a public servant and surrounded by the stuff everyday, and need a change of environment.

The other explanation could be I’m tired of the limitations of BS, and while fun sometimes would like something a little bit more eternal.

    How’s your son?

    Cheers

daisy what was wrong with your son? is he OK?

    daisy Says:

    Hi Emma,
Yes, he is on the mend. He did his back a mischief last Sun night and has been in terrible pain all week. Saw him yesterday, he is on the mend but it has been a very gradual and painful recovery.

  9. 4569
    Emma Whale Says:

poor thing. My back is very sore too (different reasons of course!) but doing something to your back is awful. How did he fix it? I’m thinking of going to the chiropractor.

  10. 4570
    daisy Says:

Rest is a strategy that works for him (might be a bit difficult for you) and if it’s really bad he takes pain medication (only as a last resort).
Prevention is better than cure in his opinion so during the times he is pain free, he exercises, does weights to build muscle around the spin, stretching exercises also help. In the past when it has been really really bad we have a contact who specialises in chinese medicine and massage and that has helped, although having your back massaged when you are in pain in excruitating.
    It’s a on going issue.
He has also seen a orthopedic surgeon, who was the one who suggested the prevention strategies which have been good but it has been about 6 years since the last visit and I think its time for him to be re x-rayed to make sure the back has not degenerated.

When AOG arrogance meets AOG arrogance.

“Samoan churchgoers have been divided in a bitter legal battle for control of their assets, including a multi-million-dollar property in south Auckland.

About 40 of the 85 Samoan Assemblies of God in New Zealand (SAOG) A churches are said to have aligned with the Assemblies of God in New Zealand, which is claiming the Pacific church comes under its authority.

In a series of civil actions being played out in the High Court at Auckland, the SAOG is asserting its independence.

The fight has seen Assemblies of God New Zealand (AOGNZ) place a caveat on the $3 million Samani Pulepule centre in Robertson Rd, Mangere.

Lawyer Olinda Woodroffe, who represents the Samoan churches, is seeking a high court order declaring the SAOG has never been a member of the AOGNZ

The lawsuits have stemmed from a decision two years ago by the SAOG to formalise its structure by filing a constitution to become SAOG.

SAOG became an incorporated society in 2005, after 40 years in New Zealand. The churches remain under the leadership of superintendent Samani Pulepule and have around 10,000 worshippers throughout the country.

But AOGNZ, with up to 35,000 members, claim the Samoan churches fall under its constitution.

Iliafi Esera, assistant superintendent of Assemblies of God New Zealand, has described the dispute as a “separation” involving the Samoan Fellowship of the Assemblies of God movement in NZ.

“A number of Samoan local churches have sought to establish a new structure of their own,” Mr Esera said.

However, court documents deny there is a Samoan Fellowship under the Assemblies of God New Zealand.

“The SAOG never had the intention, nor did they hold the belief, that they were operating as a regional fellowship under the AOGNZ constitution,” according to papers filed in the High Court.

“The SAOG always believed that they were operating autonomously, but in a co-operative relationship, with AOGNZ.”

Mrs Woodroffe said the SAOG had been operating as a church with its own structures, assets and property since in the 1960s, when migrants established the first Samoan Assembly of God church in Grey Lynn.

Pastor Pulepule, now aged 78, has led the SAOG in New Zealand since the late 1960s.

Samoan congregations paid more than $1.5 million to build the centre in his name at Robertson Rd, which is now the subject of a caveat.

“When they built their hall in Mangere, not one cent came from New Zealand Assemblies of God,” said Mrs Woodroffe.

“A lot of money” in church accounts was also involved in the claim but the building was most important to worshippers, she said.

The AOGNZ is claiming an interest in the Mangere hall and other church property through a trust set up to act on behalf of the Samoan Assemblies of God in the early 90s.

Mrs Woodroffe said SAOG relied on the advice of lawyers acting for AOGNZ for the drafting of the trust deed, and the church was not advised to seek independent advice.

She said AOGNZ was using bullying tactics to split the Samoan churches under a “divide and rule” strategy.

“They are dividing the Samoan community, using and abusing their power.”

“I cannot rule out racism, in my opinion,” Mrs Woodroffe said.

It is understood the SAOG wrote to all churches asking them to withdraw their membership if they wanted to come under the AOGNZ. None replied.”

    Emanresu,

So sorry mate, that must have been frustrating. What were you wearing baecause i did see a guy looking a bit lost but because he didn’t appear to have a lower lip ring so i didn’t approach him. Think he was a shortish guy with a white top / light brown hair? That you? There were about five if us on a long table of about ten places fairly close to the bistro line.

We’re going to do it all again in a couple of months for Christmas. You & i should catch up before then so i can see exactly what you look like so it can’t happen again.

Steve can’t do Thursday night at Glebe - you are welcome to come to that in his place if you wish as we now have a spare ticket. Just let us know.

Really sorry if you felt you wasted your time today…….:o(

“The goings-on at the megachurch where he was a student and then an assistant pastor made everything that came before seem like Sunday school games. During Jeff’s tenure on staff, both we and others were victimized by abuse of power. We also witnessed sexual misconduct and abuse, dishonesty, cruelty and cowardice, and a contentious church culture that fed on gossip. I have never seen anything like it, inside or outside the church.”

    http://www.coastlifechurch.com/Resources_by_Ps_Ian/teaching/tomorrow_s_friends/

    1. Yesterday Friends: The voice of yesterday friend says ‘Come back, stay as you were’. These are people who look at you as you were and want to keep you trapped in the past. Even Jesus had to battle with these relationships as he returned to Nazareth they looked at Him as Jesus the carpenters son. As a result Jesus could do no miracles amongst them as even the Son of God was restricted in fulfilling His destiny in that environment.

Over the years I have had to disconnect from people in my past, who loved and accepted me for how I used to be, but refused to recognise the person I have now become ‘a new creation in Christ Jesus’.I have never been rude or unkind, but chose to withdraw from them, even as Jesus did, because they would hinder me in fulfilling God’s call on my life.

    2. Today Friends: Today’s voice speaks to us ‘You are fantastic stay as you are!’ They are those who love us for who we are now! That’s great however, some of Today Friends may become Yesterday Friends because they feel insecure, threatened and intimidated as you press into God to be all He wants you to be. Because they have no desire to change, no desire to grow into the fullness of Christ they begin to resent the dreams and visions that God has placed in your heart. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers simply because he was passionate about pursuing God’s dream for his life.
However, many of Today Friends become Tomorrow Friends as they cheer you on to be all you can be.

    3. Tomorrow Friends: The voice of Tomorrow Friends says ‘You have a great future, be all that you can be’. These are friends of your destiny. They encourage you to keep loving, grown and achieving all that God has for your life. I have a number of friends that have been Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Friends. I think of Danny Guglielmucci who has always been there amongst others to encourage and support me towards my God-given purpose. However, I believe that God has many Tomorrow Friends that we have yet to ‘connect’ with, who will be an important part of our future.

“I want to challenge you to consider who you may need to disconnect from”

    ————————————————————————-

Hang on , i recognise that face - wasn’t that guy interviewed on A Current Affair last night? Story about an elderly woman who died & whose Will was altered / forged by someone (confirmed by a handwriting expert who consults for the poilce) to turn a church bequest from $10,000 into $100,000 robbing her children of their inheritence? Senior Minister was unaware that any of this had happened & apparently they have now signed all monies over to the children (where they belong), but….how did it happen in the first place?

Hmmm….maybe something Lancelot wishes to find out more about…

Could be a beat up (shrugs)….

We used to hear this stuff in HS staff meetings years ago. I remember Casey Treat preaching similar on one of his visits, then the church running hard with the concept. Family & outsiders were absolutely seen as a hindrance to your running with the vision if they weren’t in the fold - all strongly “implied” through corporate 80s slogans like “if you want to soar with the eagles, don’t run with the turkeys” - or something similar as stuck on one well known pastor’s wall at the time.

Yeah, i’m still falling about laughing about BH’s statement “i don’t like complex people”

Nothing succeeds like simplicity & an absence of friends who might “complicate” things.

Dare I say it? But I would think from what I have read on this blog and elsewhere that BH may be more than a little ‘complex’ himself……..
