Great link …
Interesting, David described the process that one goes through when they exit a cult. The emotions, the betrayal and the despair one feels when they realise that they have been “ripped off”.
Anyone have those same feelings…?
Lance, our reporting professional, is there any chance of getting an interview with David Milikan … there are some questions I would like to ask him…?

Yeah, I have those same feelings. As hurt as I am, I still have a part of me that longs to go back and amend things… but then I’d be ripping myself off.

What a learned man. I think i’ll go check out Dee Why Uniting at 9.30 one Sunday morn. Only a 15 min drive for me.
So there you have it in a bubble. “The fear of the middle classes”. Middle class aspirationals. They are the exact socio-demographic of the vast majority of CCC & Hillsong congregants & the exact socio-demographic that helped carry the Liberal Party over the finish line at our last federal election. This is what Rudd/Gillard is up against.
The upper classes are too concerned with safegaurding what they have, the lower classes mostly see through it in an instant. But the middle classes think that someone else has the answer & are willing tom make scarifices on that promise. Very interesting.

I’m sure you could just email and ask him.
He’s a minister at Dee Why Uniting Church in Sydney.

Emblazoned,
In regards to post 1198, I would be curious to know where that rumour is from. Coverdale has not been bought by Hillsong (sorry Hill$ong) that I am aware. I attend the Baptist church that is still in control on the school. The school is partnering with Northern Beaches Christian school, so unless they are owned by Hillsong then I would struggle to believe it to be true

Hi wakey74,
I heard the rumour yesterday lunchtime from a former Coverdale student (who left last year) that spoke of it as emphatic fact (but i have yet to confirm). She said that Coverdale has had ongoing financial problems (particularly associated with it’s english school) and that within the past few days Hillsong had successfully negotiated a buy out deal to save the school.

I’ll just shut up, no one’s interested in what i say.

Ahh Reve…it looks interesting and is prolly worth a laugh

Emblazoned,
I do agree that they have struggled finanicaly recently, and that is why NBCS has partnered with them.
Hillsong has had no involvemnt with the baptist church who actually run the school so I would be very surprised that they have stepped in to buy the school out.
Of course I might be wrong (I hope not) as I am not in any position of power to know the full truth but will endevour to find out more
December 5th, 2006 at 1:07 pm
Creepy… I always thought NBCS would be bought out by CCC, considering about half of Pulse are current students, and a good amount of people from Change are former students… Hell, even I’m a former student!

Actually, Dan did send it to me, and I sent you an e-mail. Perhaps it was a misspelling? Dan, please give Reve my e-mail. I would much appreciate it.
Thanks!

I went to the Girlie? or Blonde Ambition Tour? in the early 90’s at the Hordern with my then girlfriend. I actually vogued. My gf was so embarassed because these young girls were looking at me & making fun.
“Like a Prayer” still makes my heart pump & the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Especially the extended dance mix.
December 6th, 2006 at 8:16 pm
Oh reve…you dance party maniac…I love that song as well - it is very very very cool…ad great to dance to…so I’m told…not that there’s anything wrong with that…is there?

hello?
December 8th, 2006 at 11:23 pm
Hello Greg the explorer. I’m bored. Is that a sin? Only on Friday nights perhaps. I have some boring but delightfully inane thoughts I could share on this thread, like hill$ong isn’t as bad as hellsong or dillsong.
December 9th, 2006 at 1:30 am
Actually, that was a foolish comment that I just realised could be taken the wrong way, I should think before I write.
December 9th, 2006 at 8:31 am
Signposts would be no fun at all unless people wrote down foolish comments that could be taken the wrong way… leading to a bun fight and abuse… finally an interjection from Dan suggesting everyone calm down.
I’m all for stream of consciousness writing if you’re bored on a Friday night. Alternatively, try searching for fundamentalist Islamic sites and find out their opinions about Jews. (I did this the other day to discover a fresh appreciation of why Israel has a reputation for over-reacting… mmm… scary stuff).
December 9th, 2006 at 10:27 pm
I was bored and thought I might engage Greg the explorer in meaningless banter but he was probably already asleep by the time I posted, time differences being as they are between here (WA) and there (over east).

Philip Powell..the former AOG head honcho in Australia has put out an email circular which includes this….
“Carols by Candlelight
CWMF – invites you to join in and so help us put
CHRIST back into CHRISTmas this year
The gospel will be preached. Bring your own candle (electronic is best) and blanket to sit on the lawn. There’s plenty of room.
If CWM-F is too far, support a similar event in your area, BUT boycott any Church that is putting on a purely entertaining event. It sends a false message.”
I’m thinking of calling Powell and beating it up into a radio news story (to fill a hole on a slow news day before Christmas).
What do Signposters think of a former denominational leader encouraging a boycott of the Hill$ong/Paradise/CCC-style Chrissie shows?
December 12th, 2006 at 7:10 pm
From what I have seen of Mr Powell he is the other extreme of the pendulum to Hell$ong…neither are what I desire to be involved in. Not all things about either are bad or good!

Kind of like having a choice between dog spew and cat piss.
