Possum dragging boy Danny Korocz is leading worship @ Phenomena - here is his blurb from the site

Too long has this generation been silenced by depression, suicide, peer pressure, divorce and addiction. Over the years music has been a powerful driving force in this occurrence that has defined the lives of many. Phenomena Loud is all about making a stand, breaking the silence & being empowered to carry the message of Jesus Christ to this world. I know that this conference will change your life & I believe that as we worship and seek the face of God we will see revival come to pass.

Let’s hope no wildlife is injured in Danny boys attempt to “make a stand and break the silence”

    Singer Says:

    From the ASIC website…

HS has registered another company, taking it’s number of registered entities to 27.

‘Hillsong Ltd’ (an Australian Public Company Limited by Guarantee) was registered on 7/12/2006 with a 25 page constitution and 20 page application for registration lodged with ASIC.

According to ASIC, the Hillsong structure is made up of the following:

    16 Business Names
7 Australian Public Companies Limited By Guarantee, although one of these companies appears to be a duplication in ASIC’s records (same registered number twice). This also includes a reserved name ‘Hillsong Disaster Relief’.
    3 Associations
    1 Australian Registrable Body.

Interesting to note that, apart from the new company (Hillsong Ltd) and the reserved name, the Constitutions of each of the 5 remaining companies have been altered/changed in the past 2 years.

‘Hillsong Church Ltd’, ‘Hillsong Church Limited’ and ‘Hillsong Emerge Ltd’ changed their Consitiutions on the same day, 14/4/05, while ‘Hillsong Disaster Relief’ and ‘Hillsong Disaster Relief Ltd’ passed a resolution in April 2006, with amended Constitutions filed on 20 October 2006.

The changes to the Constitution of each of these companies could just be cosmetic, but I can’t help wondering why HS has incorporated ‘Hillsong Ltd’ in the last month.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I also note that the financial reports for each of the existing companies were lodged with ASIC on 31/5/06.

    HateHype&Schmik Says:

    Gday all.
Love the page & this particular forum.
Am particularly nauseated by the HS roadshow. Interesting though that it’s at its strongest when Christians are more seeking out “community” rather than the narcotic of the Sunday hype. Well, at least I thought so.

Have a Brian Houston story though which begs telling … don’t feel that many “convictions” these days in my anti-institution but pro-Jesus season, but after reading this thread let me re-tell a story of a parishoner (yes, I’m a padre) who visited HS.
That night, allegedly, BS had a swipe at my/our denomination.
I encouraged this guy to write to him and express his feelings of disgust. Within days my friend received a most gracious, humble, contrite letter from BS expressing his apologies. It was appropriate, but nonetheless quite moving. Good on him!
So I guess whatever is praiseworthy it’s worth thinking about that at times .. at least for me anyway.

  11. 1451
    HateHype&Schmik Says:

Sorry .. substitute “BS” for “BH” …. Brian Houston.
Some may call it a Freudian slip .. but not me ;)

    Jack-of-it Says:

“Sorry .. substitute “BS” for “BH” …. Brian Houston.
Some may call it a Freudian slip .. but not me”

I for one am more inclined to believe the whole story is “BS” … I smell a rat! As for Freud … no … try Fraud!!

My reasons for this conclusion, in no particular order:

    1 Houston DOES NOT apologise
2 He is loathe to put anything in writing as it could come back and bite him.
3 The construction of these two posts does not ring true, even for so-called ‘Padre’.
4 “That night allegedly” … hardly an allegation if he supposedly apologised!
    5 Houston - “most gracious” (!) “humble” (!!) “contrite” (!!!) - now you’ve gone too far!
6 “Appropriate, but nonetheless quite moving. Good on him!” SPEW!
7 If such an apology existed it should either be posted here as proof that miracles still occur; or framed and hung in the National Museum as a rare artifact!

    Jack-of-it!

    Greg the explorer Says:

I’m with Jack-of-it - no way is this a legit BH story - if he can’t apologise to Geoff Bullock he can’t apologise to anyone.

I believe it. Brian, I believe, was concerned what other Christian denominations thought of him.

Singer…so what? none of that means anything.

  18. 1458
    Jack-of-it Says:

    Emblazoned, you said:

“I believe it. Brian, I believe, was concerned what other Christian denominations thought of him”.

I know that Houston is a political animal (albeit an arrogant, authoritarian “we’ve got what you lack” kind). His recent forays into the field of politics have been regrettable (and embarrassing) – ask the Fabians Society. When out of his comfort zone he really is very unimpressive!

He does however play the numbers game occasionally (from a pragmatic point of view i.e. “what’s in it for me”) but your interpretation (with respect) falls down somewhat when you consider:

1 He allegedly apologised to an ‘individual’ not to a ‘denomination’.

2 Have you EVER known BH to respond favourably, let alone with: “most gracious … humble … and … contrite” etc, to anyone who was “express(ing) his feelings of disgust”?

3 He is more apt to buy you jewellery … than to apologise – just ask Bobbie!!

Nah … sorry mate you’re being too nice (IMHO).

    Jack-of-it!

    wakey74 Says:

If Brian is so concerned with what other denominations think of him, then why criticise them in the first place

  20. 1460
    Singer Says:

    Bec,

Was just wondering what the new company will do that isn’t already being done by Hillsong’s other entities…or is it just a branding exercise?

When you consider the costs of setting up a company and annual audit fees (which can run into thousands of $), what is to be gained by this?

  21. 1461
    HateHype&Schmik Says:

Take it or leave it guys.
I am fair dinkum. This is a true story. I put in “allegedly” as I just tend to do that with all second-hand stories I hear about. I do remember the substance of the story vividly as I, along with the guy in question were quite amazed when he replied.

As a newbie here, I don’t blame you for “smelling a rat”.

My apologies Jack-of-it for my “construction”. I didn’t post with “construction” in mind. The second post merely clarified an error in the first.

I reiterate, hand on the heart stuff, that I am neither a HS member, attendee, devotee or supporter. I have never met BH though I have had the pleasure of meeting a very godly man in Geoff Bullock.

    bec Says:

Singer - people register companies and don’t do anything with them all the time, but leave them there so they’ve got them ready-to-go in the future, when they need them. I’m not up with all the auditing requirements and costs associated with them, but suffice to say that if all companies had audit costs of thousands of dollars, there’d be pretty of little companies going bust!! Your requirements will depend on size, what you do, and a whole bunch of other characteristics.

So what if the financial reports were lodged with ASIC on 31/5/06? I bet thousands of other companies have lodged reports too…well, at least you’d hope so!! Don’t be too paranoid!!

  23. 1463
    Singer Says:

    Thanks Bec

‘So what if the financial reports were lodged with ASIC on 31/5/06?’

It was just a note, meaning the latest audited figures are now available at ASIC. Previously published results have been been based on 05 and 04 figs. Also hasn’t late or non-lodgement been an issue in the past? If so, it appears HS now have their act together in this regard

Not paranoid…just intrigued by the corporate structure:)

    silentbob Says:

It only costs approx. $1,000 to register a company in Australia. It can be done in less than 24 hours by companies such as Espreon or the like.

So SB - what of our conversatin from last night - can you orgnise it?

Unlikely. I don’t have personal ties with Pat. I’ll ask next time I see him. I think I’m on for the Joyce Meyer meetings. :-o

    emblazoned Says:

Thanks o those who thought I was being nice to Brian, it’s good to know I still coem across nice. But I wasn’t intending to. i meant he is concerned what other denominations think in a political manner. He is happy to pay out a denomination in one context and to send an apologu in another, according to what is best for the business.

  28. 1468
    Greg the explorer Says:

I hope you coudl arrange it - and Pat can be assured of all I promised last night

  29. 1469
    emblazoned Says:

Possibly as a result of my hillsong experience, my Christian faith is really struggling. I only see reasons to question my past leaders and what they have said and as I research more church history I find it harder to trust the Christian interpretation of it. Anyone got some tips?

  30. 1470
    Greg the explorer Says:

Concentrate on te ground floor - focus your attention and activity on those around you who are not in leadership. God is not te Christian church…Jesus is not the Christian church - but you will find them in it - and elsewhere as well. Read some of Brian Mclarens stuff - especially A Generous Orthodoxy. Spend time in small communities - somewhere like Small Boat Big Sea in Manly might be helpful.
