Hillsong article

For those that inquired about the Hillsong article which appeared in the Weekend Australian, the Australian (or more particularly the copyright owner) has agreed to permit us to publish the article on this site for everyone to access, for a fee about the cost of a pair of sneakers. This is unfortunately outside of our (non-existent) budget for this site. Could people either comment here or drop me an email if you would be willing to chuck in some money to make this available, or alternatively if you don’t think that it is worth it to do. Ta.

No, no, no….you’re doing it all wrong.

This is how you get the dollars in.

“All you Signposters are looking awesome today. Amen? (”Amen”).

Why don’t you turn to the blog-poster next to you and say….”She sells sea shells on the sea shore”? (”She sells she…….(laughter) …She sells sea sells….(laughter).. Oh …bugger it”).

Allright…everything’s moving in the House of God today.

Just stand up in front of your computer, give yourselves a bit of a shake…jiggle those bits………and a stretch……..ah…isn’t it great to be alive in God’s world?

    Give yourselves a hug. (”Mawphhhhh”)

    Ok, you may be seated.

Turn to 1 Dolly Promotion 252.

Did some of you forget to bring your Dolly Magazine?

Ok we’ll put it up on the screen.

    http://dolly.ninemsn.com.au/dolly/promotion/whatnow/promotion252.asp

    1 Dolly Promotion 252….starting from verse 1.

” To celebrate the release of cute romantic comedy Just Like Heaven, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, on DVD, Pioneer are giving away a HOT home theatre package valued at $6,498! This amazing prize includes a Pioneer 43 inch Plasma (PDP-43HD) TV and Home Theatre System (HTZ131).
HOW TO ENTER: In 25 words or less, we want you to tell us about a time you knew it was fate. Send your entry to DOLLY/Just Like Heaven Competition, PO Box 5547, Sydney NSW 2000, or email it to dollycomps@acpmagazines.com.au with Just Like Heaven Comp in the subject line. Don’t forget to include your name, age, address and phone number. Entries close June 1, 2006″.

What it means…is that you only have to give Dolly a small offering….a few words…an envelope and a stamp…and you WILL receive more than a hundred fold in return.

The principle is the same for the Australian article.

Think of how many people you will bless and lead to the truth….just through the small offering….the equivalent of a pair of sneakers.

Sneakers wear out ..but the truth in the Weekend Australian will always shine through.

How good is that? Can you say …”How good is that?” (She sells she…..(laughter) )

    Ok ..you’re confused, but it’s only early…

Together we can use this Weekend Australian article to bless entire nations……who need to know how a pastor can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more than what shows up in the books… heh…heh….how’s that for a word of knowledge… is the Lord God awesome…..? Can I get an amen? (silence) Can I get an AYYYYY-MEN? (”Ayyyyyy-men”).

So for a small sacrifice…….and remember..it’s not about equal giving..it’s about equal sacrifice…..I want you to know ..I’m giving up my 30000 Frequent Flyer points here…..for the price of a pair of sneakers, we can change the world.

Are you with me church? (”Go and get fucked, wanker”).

All-righhhhht! Dolly was right….This was fate.”

What he said. Seriously, if you want to give us money to in fact buy a new pair of sneakers (we both actually need a new pair), then go for it.

I would be happy to donate some sneakers to be auctioned off - does that help?

    Greg the explorer Says:

And anyway - We’re Australians not wanker Americans (sorry rev) - we wear joggers, not sneakers. (don;t anyone draw attention to the hipocracy of haveing used the word sneakers in my previous post or I will get the rev onto you)

    dan Says:

Really? I have always worn sneakers. Maybe it is a regional thing.

Where in the scriptures does it say we are to give to blog sites… this is frivolous, and I want you all to remember, no one starts out giving to a blog… oh at first it’s harmless, just a few measley dollars. Then it grows and Dan’s lust to “post more articles” will grow until it will become a full fledged “ministry”. Then where will you saps be? Tithing to a blog site, that’s where!

    This is heresy!!!!

  16. 16
    dan Says:

You, macadamia nut are just seeking to undermine the true ministry of God’s chosen bloggers. You know what? God is speaking to me right now and he is saying that you are on his list of naughty rather than nice.

You must be hearing Santa Claus - He is the one who knows if your naughty or nice. THOU ART AN HERETIC!!!

    Just a question :
Many people consider Danny guglieimucci to be different to the other
AOG leaders. He is on the national executive but people dont see him
    as a BH clone.
I have heard Danny is approachable and willing to listen - any comments

for the gals and guys as well

Hillsong has been good to Christine Caine and given her much exposure.
Is she in the HS mould or is she her own person???? Any thoughts from bec, katherine, sally, lance etc. oops sorry how did lances name get in there

    Ned,

I know there are people I admired when I attended who seemed to have integrity but its been a long time and I wouldn’t like to comment . To be honest the people I liked when I went there were often ordinary members of the congregation - people who honestly wanted to serve God and did the best they could . And every now and then I see a person on the news that has achieved something wonderful - that’s great . There are an enormous amount of former Hillsongers out there .

    Anybody else like to comment

  27. 27
    bec Says:

Ned, I don’t know who Christine Caine is, and I have only heard Guglieimucci speak once. It was the night I decided to take my faith more seriously (a big marker in my life, but it’s not true to say it was the night I decided to follow Christ). However I don’t credit Guglieimucci with that at all. :) It was a typically boring, hypy, penty talk ending with the “come down to the front if you wanna…” and then lots of laying on of hands, pushing over, etc…looking back I see it as proof of God’s hand that I made that decision that night, because all the wrong buttons were being pushed for me!

So, I can’t comment on either of them - I don’t like Danny’s speaking style, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a fantastic pastor…and I personally value that more in a person.

    Neil Says:

    Ned,

    I am a recent ex-Hillsonger.

I have always found Danny to be different from the rest in that he always preached messages of love, community action or relationship with Jesus. He only gets one gig a year at Hillsong if that. I think that He is not BH’s favourite but he is on the AOG executive so he has to be invited…..

Christine Caine only has one message about how she was adopted out and amounted to nothing and then she found Jesus and praise Hillsong and Youth Alive….

I find her incredibly boring and as for her delivery style it makes me feel like i am in trouble and that I’m an idiot and that i have no idea!

In other words, she is an overrated windbag with nothing but a great testimony. There is no depth to her messages in typical Hillsong fashion.

  29. 29
    DonaldDuck Says:

Neil, as an ex-Hillsonger, is it possible to profile the typical Hillsong attendee? For example, would the following statements be true or false:

The majority of Hillsong attendees are tertiary educated?

The majority of Hillsong attendees earn more than the national average in salary.

The typical Hillsong attendee is an independent thinker.

    Eric Says:

At the SA Forge conference last year someone mentioned that Danny G was working with Forge. It was a surprise that the senior pastor of Adelaide’s 2nd biggest church (I think) was consulting with the guys who have been encouraging churches to take a variety of styles rather than copying the successful-looking big ones.

Indeed Danny has since been a speaker at Forge gigs, and he would appear to be the intersection of the AoG leadership community and the Forge mob - a unique position - I’m sure God can use him to improve the state of His church.
