The triangle - part 2
A little while ago, I pointed you to a series that Natala was writing. I don’t know whether you went to read that series, but I have been and I wanted to quote something from what I assume is the last instalment:
i think the church as a whole, claims to have that same sticker. the church as a whole claims to be a safe place, full of love, a place that will take you in and comfort you, and never leave you. a place that christ, the ways that he taught are practiced. because that’s what we all want.
we want to call ourselves christians, we want so badly to have that sticker. we want to say we follow jesus. but we have no idea the weight of it. we throw it up there, because that’s who we want to be.
but we stop at the label, we stop at the cross on the door, we stop at the picture of jesus, we stop at the bible verses up on the wall. that’s as far as our faith will go. it runs no deeper than the dry wall that holds the sign.
In our comments here, certainly some people have experienced this from the church. It is, at once, a great indictment and a great challenge for the church.

I read it and I loved it. Not only is it compelling reading, but it touches the deepest things about being human. Real stuff. A beautiful synergy of art, humanity and spirituality. Unfortunately, something I can only aspire to…

I read the whole lot Parts 1- 11 and also found it compelling, heartbreaking. It brought tears to my eyes and deeper understanding to my heart.
