Christian school call for funds
Interesting article sent in by Alan regarding school funding.
“LOW-FEE Christian schools are asking for the same level of
Federal Government funding given to Catholic schools. In a submission to the Government’s inquiry into funding for
private schools, Christian Schools Australia says it is unfair for
Catholic schools to receive more money than poorer Christian
schools. The submission was obtained under freedom of information laws
because the Government’s inquiry into how it will distribute an
estimated $27.6 billion to private schools, during the next
four-year funding cycle from 2009, is being run behind closed
doors.”

Todays papers (”Australia’s inequitable education system”) again highlight the degree to which christian schools are complicit in creating and sustaining poverty,

Sobering statistics Alan… and damnit, spending money on the poor just doesn’t buy an election win… and most Christians I talk to don’t seem concerned about this. I’m getting awfully cynical for a natural optimist.
