he simply does not understand what puishment fitting the crime means.
His comment really says it all.
And he is a pastor!

His comment really says it all - he doesn’t make a coment, he asks a question - one you haven’t answered - in public in any case.
Explain to me like I’m a 5 year old how killing Saddam Hussein makes us better than he was?

who says killing him means we are better than he.
It is silly.
I have said over on the other thread why it is warranted but I will repeat myself here.
God well knows that murder, first committed by Cain, will happen again..
now he prescribes capital punishment not as deterrent, it is not discussed nor is revenge but as a signal that murder is in a class by itself in that it kills a human made in God’s image

15Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
It seems that ‘God’ doesn;t agree with you
January 8th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
who said anything about hate.
with respect that is a red herring
January 8th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.
I asked you if a repentant murderer had a placve in heaven, you said yes - I’m showing you a scripture that says that murderers have no eternal life in them.

err greg I thought we agreed this murderer has shown repentance which means in fact they no longer are a murderer!

Then why did John single out murderers why not say “Anyone who hates his brother is a sinner, and you know that no sinner has eternal life in him.” I think that John meant murderers and once a murderer always a murderer - once a mother always a mother, once a carpenter always a carpenter, once a Homer always a homer.
I am pointing out that not everything in the bible applies as literally as you would like it to my fine feathered friend

greg, your bible knlwedge is lacking.
Only one sin cannot be forgiven, that is not murder.
Afterall if that was the case David is a dead duck not to mention one paul

It is rather easy to show up a fallacy.
