but you know that, right?
January 15th, 2007 at 11:05 am
D’Oh!….
I have been conned again!

Should one attempt to forward this stuff to the federal police or something… or at least one’s ISP… or don’t they care too much?
January 15th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
forward to the federal police, yeah, that’s what I was thinking.
there is no way I was thinking of replying in the name Pat Mesiti.
Honest, I swear I WASN’T thinking that.
By the way,
does anyone know Pat’s current address?
or his phone number?
perhaps
not that I need it for anything particular,
just wondering.
are we clear now?
January 15th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
If you really need to speak to Pat I’m sure you will find him at CCCOF on any given Sunday.
January 15th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
ADHD Librarian - your sneakiness sounds an awful lot like our friend Neil who posted around here a while ago about popping credit details of his ex girlfriend into the collection plate - ADHD, are you Neil?
January 15th, 2007 at 5:05 pm
Silent Bob - would Pat Mesiti sit down with a total unkonwn like myself if I turned up at CCCOF and have a chat and a coffee?
January 15th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
Well, given that I’m not Pat Mesiti, I can’t possibly answer that.
Why don’t you ask him yourself? And what makes you think I would be able to give you a yes/no answer to that question?
January 15th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
becuase you’re the one who sugested that if we really need to speak to Pat you were sure we could find him at CCCOF on any given Sunday. SO I’m asking if you reckon it wold be worth the trip or is more lilely that someone who is inside already woold be ina better postion to speak to him - if it’s worth the trip I’d make the trip - what are your thoughts
January 15th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
ok.
I honestly don’t know how it would be received. I just know that he’s there on Sundays with his family. I’m guessing you wouldn’t want to just hang out and shoot the breeze though.
January 15th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
nope - it’d be in depth - but I think I could do it in an attitude oif respect and fellowship one Christian with another - anychance you could check it out and see if it’s possible?
January 15th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
I doubt it would be possible after a service. It’s not really the place. Maybe contact him via his website and see if he would be agreeable to meet with you. What sort of things do you want to know, because if you’re going to dredge up his past mistakes then my pariticipation in this conversation ends here. I imagine that you will probably come from speaking with him and relay everything here on signposts, which I don’t think is fair either, unless you’re very clear that you are there to gather information to pass on to others.
Personally, I smell an ambush to be honest.
January 15th, 2007 at 9:16 pm
To be honest, ig Greg is going to talk to him about Prosperity Theology / Tithing / The Direction of The Contemporary Church, I would say it is worth a try, its always worth a try - but these guys have “heard it all before”.
Someone from Hillsong emailed me to tell me that they wrote a 20 page report on tithing - and it fell upon deaf ears.
I haveseen people apprach these Churches only to be ’stone walled’, (and in some cases - staff fired).
Absolute truth twice pleaded on Phil Bakers blog for him to make a stand in a corrupt environment, but Phil did not respond, nor did he even bother contacting AT.
Theseguys are all part of a religious / financial sysytem that they ‘all benefit’ from. Why would they want to change, or to ‘rock the boat’?
January 15th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
I would not be dragging up past mistakes - he has done his bit - mistakes are mistakes and I’ve have plenty of my own crap to last a life time - stuff that makes whatever he may or may not have done seem like so much nothing. I would want to talk to him about his handling of scripture, about tithing and the whole prosperity gospel - I would be happy to talk to him at any time he was available and I woul dbe happy to have that conversatin be 100% confidential - and I make that promise here and may I be banned from signposts forever if I ever report any conversation that Pat Mesiti and I ever have that he does not give me written permission to broadcast.
I am not about ambushing the man - I wold even provide him with the range of questinos I’d like to ask - I would even attend a CCOF service to show good faith and to demonstrate my good will. I don;t think he would give a joe sidewalk the time to go over these things - howver if you are in a position to make an introduction upon agreed terms I think that wold hold more weight for him.
I am a nobody - but I ahve some serious questions for him and I believe that I am honorabel enough to abide by my promises in this forum. How about it? Can we take this to a whole new level?

Is this the aog mailing list?
[edited for stupidity]
January 16th, 2007 at 12:46 am
“Is this the aog mailing list?”
Lol…that is so funny.
I suppose we could email brian.houston@hillsong.com and find out.
January 16th, 2007 at 1:19 am
thought you would appreciate it Lance
January 16th, 2007 at 1:03 pm
Where did that come from? Henry bar Kennedy do you have too much time on your hands?
If its fur real it could be the first time I’ve seen a moderator in action on Signposts, so copy it now before it goes.
January 16th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
That’s f****ed, and probably a breach of privacy laws - both by henry bar kennedy and whoever he got it from. There is a line, guys.
January 16th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
I don’t know about that, Bec.
Most of these people have public persona’s & these are their workplace emails. From a public responsibility perspective, they should be directly contactable & accountable. Sometimes we don’t want the smokescreen from their denom PR person. Personal privacy yes, professional privacy, why?
January 16th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Reve, if people want to make an unauthorised repository of aog emails (or other personal details etc) and take the risk on privacy etc, then they can do it on their own website.
January 16th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
Don’t get me wrong, i don’t know this Henry guy or understand his motivations for posting that, quite possibly mischievous. I certainly wouldn’t do it, i’d be scared for legal reasons same as you.
I just don’t think it should be panicked about now its there, that’s all. These people have chosen to be public figures & more often than not are happy to directly benefit from ppl’s funds, but not have to deal with their direct suggestions which i think is rather convenient, don’t you?
It is of course you who has to deal with the fall-out of what has been done by this Henry, Dan & as a responsible moderator i know you will remove the information. I’d the same. I just didn’t understand Bec’s anger that it was there for a few mins that’s all.
Who is this guy, anyway?
January 16th, 2007 at 2:12 pm
Reve,
if people want to get someone’s email, they can usually get it off the website of the place at which they work.
I didn’t look at the list particularly closely, all I saw was hundreds of addresses. Now, my first question is, are all these people in a position of responsibility? If not, then your argument falls down immediately. My second question is, are all of those addresses publically available addresses? If not, they shouldn’t be posted either. My third issue is that it was clearly a mailing list - people gave their email addresses out for a specific purpose, and that purpose wasn’t so that it could be published on the internet for all and sundry to see, and use to send abusive emails. If you want to make “direct suggestions”, I’m sure it’s not too hard to find those email addresses yourself, or to pick up the phone. That’s what I do all the time when I want to contact someone I haven’t contacted before…use the phone book or their website…
January 16th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
You’re right of course Bec & i am suitably rebuked & convicted about my statements above. I myself had no interest in the contacts & recorded none. Not my style.
Henry, whoever you are, please don’t place us at risk by doing anything like that again. You can contact Lance direct with that stuff if needs be, he’s our attack dog anyway, but we need this site & we don’t want it drawing anymore fire than is necessary.
January 16th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
Here here. Very low rent gents.
January 16th, 2007 at 3:07 pm
Good on you Dan for removing it. I was pretty dumbstruck about the stupidity of posting it particularly in regard to legality/privacy.
January 16th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
Oh and by the way I know a couple of the people on that list and there is no way they were publically available. They are ones you have to ring and ask for.

ADHD, are you Neil?
—————————————————-
Nope, not Neil.
Just ADHD. Although, at one stage I was Johnny Chis when i logged on at work and ADHD when I logged in from home (or was it the other way around).
But when I noticed I had two logins I stopped using the Johnny Chis account.
(wouldn’t want to be the sort of poster who supports his own arguments from dummy accounts)

Re the email listing thing. Strictly, there probably isn’t a privacy breach - the privacy laws generally only apply to businesses with a certain turnover (which signposts doesn’t have).
But even if all of the addresses are publicly available, there is a reason why a mailing list is a valuable thing. Because it means with a minimum of effort you can push information to a large number of people. Without the mailing list you have to go to all the bother of tracking down the individual emails and mailing people directly. Most people don’t do that unless they are pretty committed to a cause.
That is why mailing lists (and for that matter personal contact details) will be removed from the comments. It is a tacit invitation for dickheads to misuse information. And when that tacit information is published on signposts, we are the ones that deal with the complaints.
The fact that henry bar kennedy registered a user profile for the sole purpose of posting that information (those two comments are the only ones under that username) using a yahoo email address suggests that HBK probably intended the reaction.
Thanks to those who let us know promptly via email about the posting so that we could action it quickly.

Damn … could of really had some fun with that!
