Ambushed

Signpost readers in Melbourne, and also AFL and Cricket lovers may be familar with the ambush marketing tactics of Holden which has used its blimp to ‘over shadow’ the marketing efforts of competitors such as Toyota at key sporting events - usually at the MCG…

Well the “Parachute Conference” is now over in New Zealand with over 27,000 people attending, so it is fitting to see the advent of airpower venture into the battle on Tithing.

Mark  Vrankovich who is responsible for www.tithingdebate.com organised a plane which buzzed the Parachute Music Festival for 30 minutes in the afternoon, and then for 45 minutes at the end of the day when everyone was at the outdoor main concert arena to promote his web-site which debunks the ‘dodgy doctrine’ of tithing as peddled by the WOF/AOG/Contemporary Church teachers such as Paul de Jong (RiverviewChurch Board Member, CLC Auckland Senior Pastor, and Parachute heavy).

Regarding this intriguing excersise, I recieved an email which reported that:

“the people who own the festival are of the Hillsong ilk,  and were not happy. But feedback suggests (along with the massive hump in www.tithingdebate.com site stats) that the ordinary Christians on the ground were fascinated”.

It seems that it is not only the Contemporary Church Pastors that can use networking and promotional strategies to promote their Business, but like Martin Luther who leveraged the advent of the printing press in his time as a medium of protest (against the corruption of Christianity through dodgy doctrine for the enrichment of the clergy) - ordinary lay people can be just as entreprenurial in their approach “getting the message out!”

This really is Gold!

How sweet it looks! One man complained about you asking for donations to pay for a plane. I asked him if he complianed about his church asking for donations to pay for its many non-church activities. If it is OK for them, then it should be OK for us.
