mixed ecology
It seems like it is a Paul Fromont day: but this paragraph just had to be pointed out:
“Also, I’ve regularly used Rowan’s expression, “mixed economy” when talking about the need for a range of different models for gathering as church. Anyway Ben Edson changed my mind. He wondered if “mixed ecology” was a better way of describing it. I think it is, so from now on I’m going to use the expression “mixed ecology.””
A mixed ecology that resonants with me much better. Dan and I have often refered to our multi-congregational approach as having an perspective of a local church as an ecology rather than a single garden. Thanks again Paul and also to Ben.

the problem with mixed economies in the church as in the national economy is that they are so hard to exract taxes from .. eerrr i mean ‘tithes’
if only we could eliminate those pesky home church people and get them back into ‘Gods house’

hey long time lurker and first time “virgin” signposter…. i thought i might weigh an idea into this thread…
It is interesting that for the last few years the cooperate world has been using the organic term “ecosystem” for instance with the iPod they refer to the iPod “Ecosystem” which means that all the products live and fed off each other creating a market that is bigger than what a single “static” product could produce…
I like this organic term when looking at the multi congregational model (i am in the beginning stages of though about this for our community right now) When we think of our congragations as an ecosystem one which is growing and evolving i think that it helps the thinking much more than the “Economic” model….
anyway just a thought….
