<description>This has been a rewrading couple of years. As a melancholy, I’ve been in the deepest depths of confusion and despair. This site has helped me work through the puzzle that is the Contemporary Church Business model.

In this exploration we have found that many contemporary Churches are actually family controlled event marketing businesses that place their survival and the affluent livelihoods of the Senior Pastors above Truth and people.

I guess, for me too its time move on too*.

First, I just want to say a few goodbyes …

AbTruth: A brother in arms. I have admired your courage since you posted the first heartfelt plea on Phil Bakers Blog asking him to step up against the corruption in the Contemporary Church. Unfortunately we were both disappointed – when there was no response.

Lance – what can I say you challenged my worldview, and whilst I still see homosexuality as sinful, I have learned not to place it above other things that I am guilty of. Greed, selfishness, pride, other stuff too personal to publish here etc. I am as sinful and as redeemed as the repentant homosexual …

Rev – I still see your poverty theology as not being ‘technically correct’ but my heart tells me that you, like St Francis of Assisi are following Jesus with more commitment than I could ever do. I admire your faithfulness. If at the end of it all, my reliance upon Grace is not enough – then put a good word in for me. 

Jane – Thanks for your friendship, and all the information that you have shared. You brought clarity and sanity to me when I was processing so much …

Phil and Dan – Thanks for having the courage to host this site. This forum has been a benefit to so many. As Bill Gates stated – “the Internet Changes everything”. People in the silent minority can no longer be quarantined and contained and can form a vocal majority in their own right.

Saint – for your insight and you research abilities. You blog has been an invaluable reference tool.

The Contemporary Church ‘Insiders’ – people who would email me with encouragement, stories and information. Oftimes requesting that issues be raised for public discussion. Some would just email to say things like “I have stopped tithing ‘because I don’t know where the money goes”

Dr Russell Kelly for diligently taking the time to dissect to dodgy Tithing doctrines of Paul de Jong, Allan Meyer and Brian Houston.

Emblazoned: A guys after my own heart. A melancholy with the courage to go after Truth, seek answers directly from Hillsong and be honest about what he found. As much as it hurts, Truth has set you free.

Everyone else, Bec, emanresu, Wiggy, IfIknewthen, Daisy, Reve, GregTheExplorer, Zulu, the soothing comments of Janet, Janet M you guys have made the conversations what they are. Frank open honest and interesting. AKevin you persistent prodding and wry sense of humour will be missed. Facelift, I rarely agree with you – but atleast you have the courage to put your views forward. Homer, making Lances neck hairs stand on end.

And also thanks to both Graeme Mcfadden and SilentBob for making our case plain.
